Scheduling & Cancellations

  • At least 24 hours’ notice is required to schedule, reschedule, or cancel a session.

  • If the student cancels or misses a session without 24 hours’ notice, the student will be charged for the full length of the session.

  • If the tutor cancels or misses a session without 24 hours’ notice, the student will receive a free makeup session of the same length as the scheduled session.

  • The student will be charged for the full length of the scheduled session even if they are late.

  • If the student is over 15 minutes late, the session will be canceled and count as a missed/no-show session.

Session Preparation & Tips

  • Before the first session, the student should email the course syllabus and schedule. If there is a public course website, please also send the website link.

  • Students may be asked to send problems they wish to cover 1–2 days prior to the tutoring session.

  • Reading relevant sections of the textbook and attempting homework problems prior to meeting will greatly increase the effectiveness of tutoring.

  • Tutoring should be supplemental to self study. As a guideline, UC Davis recommends that students study for 2–3 hours outside of class, on average, per 1 hour spent in class. For example, if a student is taking a 4-credit hour calculus course, they should be studying 8–12 hours per week outside of class.
